Ann Machetto
Favorite photographer: Ansel Adams
Favorite subject: Landscapes--and fog.
Anne loves photography…and, in particular, the wonderful pictures nature makes!
If you would ask her, she would tell you she sees snapshots when driving…subjects
just waiting to be noticed. She is drawn to breathtaking sunrises and sunsets,
the sublties of foggy days, shy moon views against a matte black sky, and still
waters glistening, reflecting all that surrounds them in beautiful panorama.
Capturing these things in her camera’s eye, she says, provides such a great outlet
for when her “skin gets too tight.” Hiding out in that little artist place where the
mind goes to create…where nothing else exists, and there is space to breathe,
aloneness to focus, and quietness to connect with the artist within.
Experience/Education: Anne has done various types of artistic things for many years.
She seriously began pursuing photography when traveling both nationally and
internationally in the 1990s. More recently, Anne traveled to India, and took many
wonderful pictures there. Much of her photography is from the Southern Maryland,
where there is no short supply of wonderful subjects.
She has taken a few art and photo classes over the years, but have been studying
photography more seriously the past several years at the College of Southern Maryland.
She is also a member of the Charles County Arts Alliance and the Mattawoman Creek Art Center,
and has won 1st Place for her photographs in several Juried Shows.
